The General Sherman Tree

While walking among the magnificently huge trees in sequoia national park I was amazed at God’s creativity…

It got me thinking..How did these trees get this Big!?

The short answer is simple…their location helped them grow 300ft tall and over 20ft around! And help them live over 3000+ years!

They were exactly where they needed to be in order to become the largest trees in the world.

In fact the same exact tree planted somewhere else will never reach even a fraction of that size no matter how much time they are given.

They had two trees in the park. One tree was planted in the perfect spot with plenty of water, sunlight and room to grow. And it was now almost at the maximum height that these trees would reach. The other tree was planted in a crowded area, away from a stable water supply and had very little room to grow. This tree was only a few ft tall and the trunk was only as think as a dime! Both trees the exact same age!(about 100 years old.)

As I continued to think, I realized people are exactly the same.

The Bible says in Psalm 1
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.”

Jesus also says “I am the Vine and you are the branches, if he remains in me and I in him, then he will bear much fruit. Apart from me, you can do nothing.”
Between these two verses I saw myself desperately needing to stay close to God’s Word. Planted firmly in the life that only Jesus can bring. So that I may continue to grow and then maybe, after some time, I too will be able to bring as much glory to God as one of his great sequoias.

If you made it this far. Thank you, you’re a real one! I hope this encouraged you!
